How to Spend a Family Weekend in Ann Arbor
Visiting Ann Arbor for the weekend but struggling to find activities appropriate for the entire family to enjoy? In previous posts, we have talked about many of the museums and parks but these barely scratch the surface of all of the family options available for you near your University of Michigan Hotels.
The Petting Farm at Domino’s Farms
What family doesn’t love visiting a petting zoo for weekend fun?
Thomas Monaghan, whose company Domino’s Pizza located its headquarters on a renovated farm near Ann Arbor, decided to hire a staff to create a farm-themed family activity center on site to honor the legacy of the history of his property.
The Petting Zoo at Domino’s Farms opened its doors in 1984 and ever since families and especially children have been able to interact with Goats, Cattle, Chicken, Alpacas and with many more animals including “Badger the Cat.”
Domino’s Farms (and the Petting Zoo) are located at 3001 Earhart Rd. Ann Arbor, MI
Did You Know That Fairy Doors Live All Over Ann Arbor (and Near All University of Michigan Hotels)?
Starting in 1995 people began experiencing strange encounters with tiny Fairy Doors all over the city of Ann Arbor. First, they were discovered in private homes but soon after began turning up in businesses and nooks and crannies all over town. It wasn’t too much later that the children’s book “Who’s Behind the Fairy Doors” by Jonathan B. Wright was released.and a phenomenon was born.
You can start your families tour of Ann Arbor’s fairy doors wherever you desire (there is even a fairy door inspired Diorama in one of the area Starbucks stores) but you will enjoy this quest forevermore once it has been started.
