Frita Batidos offers high-end takes on cuban street foods in a comfortable setting. Fritas are traditional Cuban burgers and Batidos are tropical milkshakes – try the beef with sunny side up egg frita for a real treat. The head chef Eve Aronoff will be heading up the new version of her restaurant Eve at the Bell Tower – due to open this summer!
Grammy and Oscar Winning Artist ‘Common’ Performs for Charity
Chicago hip-hop standout Common, most-recently an Oscar winner for his musical collaboration with John Legend in the movie Selma, will be performing at Hill Auditorium on the University of Michigan Campus on Friday April 17th. Tickets are available through the University Ticket Office.
All of the proceeds from the show will go to a summer camp for Detroit youth.
Trouble With a Capital ‘T’ + Some Glee-ful Music
Harold Hill will be bringing his River City band from Iowa to the University of Michigan’s Power Center for a Department of Musical Theater performance of the classic musical The Music Man from April 16th – 19th.
The University of Michigan’s Men’s Glee Club will be presenting their ‘155th Spring Hill Concert’ on April 18th at Hill Auditorium. Tickets are still available.
Looking For Your Music on Vinyl or CD?
Record Store Day is on Saturday April 18th. Record Store Day was created in 2007 to celebrate the threatened and unique culture of record stores in the United States.
There are some amazing record stores very close to the Bell Tower – highlighting all kinds of music – Wazoo Records has been serving the campus area since 1974 and offers vinyl, CD’s, Dvd’s, and even cassette tapes. Encore Records is a campus area cultural landmark, recognized for its amazing collection of used CD’s and Vinyl. Underground Sounds specializes in Vinyl and turntables, but also offers a good sized collection of CD’s to its downtown shoppers.
Even More Music for You to Enjoy
Rock band ‘Captain Ivory’ takes the stage at The Ark on April 16th, folk and indie artist Steve Poltz will perform on Friday the 17th. Master of the boogie-woogie style of blues ‘Mr. B’ will bring the house down on Saturday night.
The Michigan Pops Orchestra will perform a program called Goodnight Pops at the Michigan Theater on April 19th at 7 pm.
The Italian Film Festival
Detroit is one of 12 cities that host the Italian Film Festival – and Lorch Hall at the University of Michigan will be showing three films as part of the festival – ‘Leopardi’ will screen April 17th at 7:30 pm; ‘The Dinner’ will be shown April 18th at 5 pm; ‘Remember Me’ will screen April 18th at 7:30 pm.

Jimmy Pardo, who has appeared on everything from Conan to Last Comic Standing, will perform at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase on April 17th and 18th.
