Top Things to Do Near your Hotel in Ann Arbor Michigan

While many consider Ann Arbor to be exclusively a University town there is actually no shortage of things that the whole family can enjoy together. After a good night’s sleep, hotels in Ann Arbor can be a gateway to whole new worlds of exploration and exciting family fun.

The following are some of the most beloved places to take the entire family in and around Ann Arbor for locals and for visitors.

1.The Hands-On Museum in Downtown Ann Arbor

The Hands-On Museum, located in an old firehouse located at 220 E. Ann Street, contains over 250 interactive exhibits based entirely around the simple idea that every single person who enters the museum can ‘discover the scientist within.’

One of the most popular exhibits is the Ferrofluid Magnetometer (one of only 250 in the world available for public viewing) which allows young and old explorers to experiment with magnetic fields.

The Museum has one a large number of awards including being named the top Museum in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press in 2003. The firehouse building which houses the museum is pretty incredible itself (incredible enough to have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places).

2.The University Of Michigan Museum of Art

Located at 525 South State Street on the Campus of the University of Michigan, The University of Michigan’s Museum of Art houses over 21,000 objects of art (pretty perfect for a full day of exploration and discovery). Currently, the UMMA is featuring a collection of African Art called “Power Contained: The Art of Authority in Central and West Africa but there are a wide variety of other collections throughout the large museum at all times.

Admission to the UMMA is always free (but a $10 donation is always appreciated) and the Museum is in easy walking distance from Downtown Ann Arbor.

3.Alber Orchard & Cider Mill

Now that Summer is drawing to a close, you and your family might want to take advantage of one of our most time-honored Fall traditions, visiting one of our many cider mills. One of the best known and most popular is the Alber Orchard and Cider Mill in Manchester Michigan.

At Alber Orchard offers tractor drawn hay rides, a 7-acre corn maze, a you-pick a pumpkin patch, a fun play area, a straw maze, tours of the cider press, and (of course) apples and cider.

Alber Orchard and Cider Mill is open to the public from September 6th through November 20th.
